Subject to meeting certain qualifying criteria, leaseholders have the right to extend their lease or buy their landlord’s interest outright.

This applies to both leasehold houses and leasehold flats.

And whether it’s a house or a flat, extension or purchase of the freehold, each has it’s own challenges.

This is a very technical area of law.  The unwary or ill-advised may face some very real difficulties in the process. It’s all too easy to get the process wrong, or miss one of the timescales set down by the legislation.  The consequences can be both fatal and costly.

Can’t agree terms?

Sometimes, it’s not possible to agree terms, and disputes arise.  A common cause if dispute is the premium payable.

Where there’s an impasse, the Tribunal can be called upon to make a determination.  And that’s where you need the right expert in your corner.
